Did you know that the prevalence of Domestic Violence(DV) among South Asians in the United States is higher than in the general population?
Measures necessary to help protect ourselves during the pandemic, such as sheltering in place and social distancing have, ironically, made the home a dangerous place for survivors of DV, majority of whom are women and children. Organizations across the country that work with families affected by DV are experiencing a decrease in the number of calls due the inability of victims to reach out…The voice of survivors of DV has been silenced and we are experiencing a Silent Pandemic of DV.
